France Margaret Bélanger joins the Board of Directors of Cogir

Cogir is proud to announce the appointment of France Margaret Bélanger to its Board of Directors. A key figure in Quebec’s sports and economic landscape, Ms. Bélanger brings to Cogir exceptional experience, sharp strategic vision, and a deep commitment to excellence.

As President, Sports and Entertainment at Groupe CH, France Margaret Bélanger leads the operations of the Montreal Canadiens, the Laval Rocket, evenko, and Équipe Spectra. She joined Groupe CH in 2013 and has held several senior leadership roles, notably heading legal and commercial affairs. Her journey within the organization is marked by numerous firsts: she is the first woman to sit on the executive committee of the Montreal Canadiens, and the first woman to lead the organization in its 111-year history.

Before entering the world of sports and entertainment, Ms. Bélanger worked as a partner at Stikeman Elliott, where she specialized in mergers and acquisitions. She advised several major players in the business world, including Groupe Gillett, the Saputo family, ACE Aviation, Aeroplan, and Air Canada, particularly in the sports and aviation sectors.

Admitted to the Bar of Quebec in 1995, she holds a law degree from the University of Ottawa and an MBA from the McGill–HEC Montréal EMBA program. Throughout her career, she has received numerous distinctions, including the National Assembly Medal of Quebec, the Order of Merit from the University of Ottawa, and the Desautels Management Achievement Award from McGill University.

Her journey reflects a rare combination of leadership, intellectual rigor, and strategic insight. Her arrival on Cogir’s Board of Directors reflects our desire to surround ourselves with leaders of diverse expertise, capable of bringing an informed perspective to our growth, challenges, and mission.

“It is a privilege to be able to count on France’s extraordinary judgment, a remarkable woman who will help us continue to build Cogir,” said Mathieu Duguay, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer.

We warmly welcome her and look forward to building the future by her side.
